‘Tropic Thunder’ an insult to Americans with Disabilities and those with a sense of Humor

this looks funny? at all?

this looks funny? at all?

I’m boycotting this idiotic film not only because it insults the disabled with tag lines like… “Once there was a retard”, but really because it just doesn’t look funny. I like Jack Black, I like Ben Stiller, and I like Robert Downey Jr. but this shit just doesn’t look funny at all. The last Jack Black flick I saw was ‘Be Kind Rewind’ and that was definitely the biggest waste of time ever.

Back to the insult, it’s just a real big slap in the face to those with disabilities to have a tag-line like that floating around on a mass marketed website that Dreamworks and Paramount approved. I mean, the movie commanded a 90 million dollar budget and millions more to market and “Once there was a retard” is the best tag-line they could come up with?? Damn. Why not just go to craigslist.com and pay some struggling student to think of a better one.

I know there is also some uproar over the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is in “blackface” and well for me, it’s not that big of a deal at all. I mean, the Wayne’s brothers were in ‘White Chicks‘ in “whiteface” and that movie was funny as hell, so I really don’t see what the fuss is. I mean, if Robert Downey Jr. is acting like a slave or something, then I would have a problem, but I don’t see that fitting into the ridiculousness that is this movie anyway.

Kevin Spacey is awesome.

Kevin Spacey is awesome.

You’d be better off spending you money at Blockbuster I’m sure. In fact, go rent “The Usual Suspects“, I watched it last night and I can stop thinking about it.  It stars Kevin Spacey, Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Benecio Del Toro, and Kevin Pollak. It’s so good.

Later nerds,

antwan.
