Levy Mwanawasa ( 1948-2008 )
President of Zambia, Levy Mwanawasa died on Tuesday, the 19th of April, in a hospital in Paris, France. This coming just two months after he suffered a serious stroke at a recent African Union summit in Cairo, Egypt. Former Zambian President Frederick Chiluba expressed shock after receiving this information and requested that “Zambians remain calm and support Vice President Rupiah Banda totally in what he described as challenging times”.
Vice President Banda is expected to take over as acting president under Zambia’s constitution before early elections are held, according to VOANEWS.com.

Laura Bush, Levy, and his wife Maureen
Levy Mwanawasa was in office from 02 January 2002 – 19 August 2008 and is survived by his wife, Maureen Mwanawasa, and his six children named Miriam, Patrick, Chipokota, Matolo, Lubona and Ntembe.
Mwanawasa traveled to Arkansas to give a speech at Harding University in Searcy and also to receive an honorary doctorate from the college. I wish I had known about it back then, it would have been awesome to hear him speak on such things as the social and political development of the Zambia and also the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa.
He was 59 years old.
