Derrion Albert was just 16 years old at the time of his death this passed Thursday ( 9.24.09). He was beaten to death by a mob of teenagers/gangsters in Chicago. Police and family believe he was killed because of his refusal to join a gang that was forming around Fenger High School on the far south side of Chicago. Derrion was a kid, dammit, just a kid. He was an honor roll student too..
Someone even has the entire beating on tape..so sad, I’m fighting back tears just typing this..All these kids and teenagers just fighting in the streets and laughing and beating this poor kid to death and also beating others..
I don’t remember the last time I saw something that gave me the chills the way the video below of the beating did..
I hope all involved in this brutal murder are caught and put behind bars for a long time, a really long time.
I pray the family finds peace and I hope that all those in the neighborhood and the surrounding neighborhoods do all they can to catch the people who did this to Derrion and bring them to justice.
The family and police want the video everywhere to try and help catch the people who did this, so if you don’t mind, re-post this, maybe someone will recognize someone and say something..
I have to go to bed, this video has caused me more anxiety than I was prepared to deal with tonight..
good night.
antwan.
the video is below.

What is most interesting about this video is it shows that Derrion was involved in the fight as well. He was trying to hit someone before he was hit. Honestly, most people unless involved in a fight will go the other way, yet it ran towards the fight. Don’t get me wrong it is sad that this child had to die in sure a violent way. I think it’s really sad and sicking that the guy video taping this event was more content with being entertained by the fight then helping a falling child. This will be something he and anyone else that watched this take place will have to live with. Violence is never the answer, it time young people learn that.

Um, Holly….wow, did you not see the 30 guys attacking Derrion? Of Course he was gonna fight back, he had to, there was no where to run! I can not believe you are defending those hoodlums who attacked him because he didn’t want to join a gang! He was an Honor Student! He went to Church! Wow you amaze me Holly.
Then you say the camera man should’ve helped him, have you no clue about anything? Why, so the camera man can get beat down by 30 gang members too with railroad ties and whatever other weapons they had? Yeah I’m sure you would’ve dove right in there.
Him videotaping it was the best thing he could’ve done so they can catch these germs of society and put them away for as long as possible..

After watching the video of this I am very disturbed. Yes, I agree he was in a fighting position but I believe he was protecting himself as anyone would!!! I don’t feel he was involved in the fight just at the wrong place at the worng time. However, this should be a wake up call for everyone. Most importantly the black on black crime needs to stop . We are losing our young black males for what? To what? I guess the question will always remain why? After watching the News and carefully watching Derrion’s mother his killers and their parents will never began to understand her pain and Derrion’s families pain. My heart goes out to the family and may GOD give them the strength to move on not that they will forget this but with time cope with it. May God Bless the Albert Family.
